Happy Customers

"We were really pleased with the service we received and it did exactly as it said on the tin. Dad is now out of hospital and has cash in the bank, which has meant he can see his Grandchildren enjoy their inheritance."

Mr B, Burnley, Lancashire

"I had been caring for my Mother for a number of years and the thought of selling my property using an Estate Agent was a hassle that I did not feel able to cope with."

Longer Travelling Times Blamed On Inflated House Prices

An analysis of unpublished data from the Office for National Statistics has shown that there has been an increase in the number of people travelling more then 2 hours to their jobs. The report showed that the number of people travelling more then two hours has risen from 1.7 million in 2004 to a whopping 3 million in 2014, which is a rise of 72%.

For those travelling more then three hours to their jobs they study shows this number has jumped by 75%, from 500,000 to 880,000 over the last 10 years. Women seem to be the ones doing the most commuting, with a 131% rise in those travelling three hours or more since 2004. The South East, South West, East Midlands and Wales are the areas that have the biggest increases in long commutes.

The Trades Union Congress’ general secretary General secretary Frances O’Grady said:

“It’s bad enough most of us spend an hour a day getting to and from work , but spare a thought for those extreme commuters who travel for more than 10, or even 15, hours a week.”

“Employers need to address the problem that many of their staff are spending an ever-increasing number of hours getting to and from work.”

“More home and flexi-working could easily be introduced to allow people to cut their commutes and save money. This would not only be popular with workers, but fewer, better-spaced journeys would help to beat overcrowding on the roads and railways.”

The TUC have blamed the longer travelling times on inflated house prices and a lack of spending on roads and railways.
